When a Resident is admitted to Cowra Retirement Village Ltd. the Physiotherapist completes an assessment and the outcome of the assessment determines what program is put in place for that particular Resident. Programs are monitored for effectiveness on a regular basis.
Through this assessment it will be established if any mobility aids are required. Example: walking aid, shower chair, commode chair or toilet raiser chair.
Types of Programs at Cowra Retirement Village Ltd.: Exercises (Group, individualized, Passive), Massage Therapy, Pain Management, Ultra Sound Therapy, Rehabilitation, Pressure Area Prevention and Management, Heat Therapy and Electrotherapy.
Some of the programs which are implemented by the Physiotherapist are carried through by the Care Staff and the Physiotherapy Assistant - some on a daily basis.
Depending on the nature of the condition, disease or mobility issue some Residents and families prefer to have Private Physiotherapy Treatments and or can be referred by a Doctor for five Physiotherapy treatments in a year. For DVA Residents this referral lasts for 12 months.
With the assistance from the Physiotherapy Assistant, Assessments and Care Plans are developed and Reviewed every 3 months and 6 months depending on the level of care but if changes occur in the interim these will be revised sooner rather than later.
