Ganya is a Wiradjuri Aboriginal word meaning Home.
The Cottage
Comprises of a 14 Bed Dementia specific cottage. Ganya Cottage is a secure area and specially designed to allow for integration and engagement of low care residents living with dementia. The Cottage is designed to resemble a home like environment with open kitchen lounge, gardens and individual rooms with en suites, to allow continuity and flexibility of service.
Care System
The system chosen to administer Ganya Cottage is the Hammond Care system, which is recognized for its ability to administer dementia care in a very practical and caring manner, with the emphasis always on the welfare of the residents and their families.
Dementia Carers
Specialised Dementia Carers provide care and support to residents, enabling them to function within the home. Carers assist with personal care, maintenance of the home (eg. cooking, cleaning, laundry, gardening) and provide opportunities for residents to engage in activities of daily living (eg. participation in domestic tasks), leisure activities and wider community involvement.
